Project 1 The Magazine Cover This was the first project that we worked on. I had to come up with a magazine cover for my own clothing line during a specific season and create it in Adobe Illustrator. For my magazine I chose summer and running apparel. As I’m sure you can see this could have come out better, but I didn’t know much about Illustrator at the time. What I should have done was trace the two runners with the pen tool and then fill them in white.
Project 2 Fixing and Colorizing a Photograph in Photoshop Original Fixed Black and White Colorized Final Editing this photo in Photoshop was my favorite project. The assignment was simply to fix the black and white original then colorize it. It took me quite awhile just fixing the black and white photograph. In some cases, as you can see in the original, I had to actually recreate parts of the photograph. Colorizing was the challenging part, especially when it came to finding the correct skin tone for the girl. The only things I didn’t like in the final picture were her shirt, her teeth, and the skin below her pendant. I left her shirt and teeth uncolored so they still have that grayscale tone to them. The skin below her pendant was way too bright, but I wasn’t sure how to fix it. Overall I think this turned out well.
Project 3 Manipulating Objects in Photoshop For the second Photoshop project. For this I was given a jpeg that had a picture of a pepper and other foods. My assignment was to make two peppers, one male and one female. In the original picture the pepper had water droplets all over it, so I took the time to clean it up as best as I could. I wanted to make hair for the female pepper so I took a lemon slice and erased all but the rind and then layered the hair in different positions. The peppers turned out okay though with a little more time I could have done more.
Project 4 Part 1 The Logo For the fourth project I had to make, in Adobe Illustrator, a logo for a business or a logo that represented myself. I chose to create a logo that represented myself. I got the idea for my logo from a metal band logo. It had a pentagram where I have my turtle and the runner, and the band name was where I have my name. I thought a turtle would be more appropriate since I really like turtles. The turtle that I used in my logo I traced with the pen tool. Also, the runner got added because I’m a runner. As for the text, Illustrator lets you warp it in cool ways.
Project 4 Part 2 Stationary and Business Card My Envelope The second part of the fourth project. I had to apply my logo to an envelope, a letterhead, and a business card. I used a green gradient to add some color to my application.
