G.I. Joe Bungee Jump Challenge: Calculate Rubber Bands for a Safe Drop

Join the G.I. Joe bungee jump challenge! Your task is to figure out the number of rubber bands needed to drop G.I. Joe safely from a height of 180 inches (15 feet) without hitting the ground. Utilize materials like rubber bands, G.I. Joe, poster paper, and measuring tape. Follow these steps: drop G.I. Joe, spot the farthest stretch, measure the drop, and calculate the required rubber bands. Assign team roles to enhance the experience, including a dropper, spotter, measurer, and data keeper. Perfect for learning about physics in a fun way!

  5. YOUR TASK Determine the number of rubber bands you need to use in a bungee jump so that G.I. Joe gets as close to the ground without hitting the ground.

  6. MATERIALS • Rubber bands • G.I. Joe • Poster Paper • Measuring Tape

  10. STEPS 3) MEASURE

  11. STEPS 4) CALCULATE

  12. Don’t miscalculate the number of rubber bands required. OUCH!!

  13. TEAM ROLES Dropper – Drops the GI Joe Spotter – Marks the farthest distance that GI Joe drop to Measurer – Measures the distance GI Joe drops to Data Keeper – Records the groups data to share with the group when the measurements are done.
