  2. Young Life • Was born March 15th, 1767 • Family immigrated from Ireland • Was born in Waxhaw, North Carolina • Went to tutors in his town, but never attended school • Was an orphan by the time he was 14 • Fought in the American Revolution

  3. Lawyer • Persuaded a lawyer named Spruce McCay to let him study law in McCay’s office. • After a few months of studying law Jackson became a lawyer, but was unsuccessful because he had a hard time finding clients.

  4. Judge • Jackson was offered a job as public prosecutorfrom his long time friend John McNairy. • Jackson accepted • He did his job very well and would even catch a criminal himself if he had to.
