CALIFORNIA MISSIONS By AURORA SCHUCK
San Carlos Borromeo de Carmelo .this mission was found by the father of all missions, Father Serra. .this mission is located below the Santa Cruz mission and above the San Anomio de Padua
Jobs at the mission there were 40 Indians, 3 solders, and 5 padres. The Indians did the labor, the cooking, and they worked in the fields. the solders were for protection and they keep an eye on runaway Indians. lastly the padres taught the Indians religion, Spanish language , and they taught them how to pray
The Carmel mission This mission has a lot of rooms. One room is the church. The church is the place where they pray and hope. One other room is the storage room where they keep their weapons.
Historic highlight (---- . Originally located in Monterey . Served as Serra's headquarters (Serra is buried here ) . Named for St. Charles Borromeo
MISSION TODAY • IS MY MISSION STILL IN USE….. Well my mission looks the same but a little worn out. Inside, worn leather-bound books in glass cases make up California's first library. The kitchen is where the Indians did the cooking and if you were there, there are still tools like baskets there that they used to cook in.
