Direct Instruction: We only have six classes together before we say goodbye to the 2011-2012 school year. *log on to MyAccess.com College Preparation: MyAccess: Personal Statement • When deciding which students to admit, colleges consider many factors about each student.  After all, colleges are interested in building a student body that is academically curious, but also diverse and actively engaged in a range of productive, creative activities. • Write a personal statement to be read by a college admissions officer.  In this statement, discuss how your academic interests, extracurricular activities, and life experiences will benefit the college community. • Tuesday: Finish paper today during Direct. Those who are finished must keep revising paper until all categories are 4.0 or above. • Thursday: Semester in Review • Now that the semester is nearly over, I’d like for you to write about your experience here at ATAMS. Collaborative Station: Dr. Kauffman’s Physics Essay Workshop (45 minutes) Just when you thought you’d escape writing, you get another essay! The Physics essay is due at the end of Tuesday, so I am going to meet with each of you to see where you’re at with the essay. This is also a great opportunity for you to help one another in Collaborative by doing peer edits. After reading some of the essays most you turned in for your History Final Writing Project, I highly suggest reading through your papers at least once before turning them in. Thursday: Class Interview Session (45 minutes) each of you will be asked to answer a series of interview questions for me. The questions cover all sorts of things regarding class, assignments, projects, etc. Please be honest about your responses for they will help me in running future College Writing classes. Individual Instruction: The Achieve 3000 assignments are to be completed within the first twenty minutes of class. Achieve3000 (Tuesday) One group of schools in Chicago charges students fines when they break the rules. Is this going too far? Achieve3000 (Thursday) American hurdler Lolo Jones is refusing to let her missed hurdle at the 2008 Olympics slow her down as she prepares for the 2012 Olympic trials.
