  2. Collaborative Station: • Read and take Cornell Notes on the packets on laboratory procedures and lab safety. • Discuss the procedures for your laboratory notebook with your classmates. ASSIGNMENT FOR MONDAY: • Complete the pre-lab for Monday’s laboratory experiment. Only those who have completed the pre-lab and have passed the quiz will be able to participate in this first lab, a demonstration lab. Direct Instruction: • Metric prefixes, dimensional analysis factor method, and scientific notation problems involving chemical quantities. ASSIGNMENT FOR FRIDAY: • Buy a laboratory notebook for your group of four people (Dr. Kauffman has notebooks available for $0.55 each or for $1.60 that are suitable). • Be prepared for the competency test on Friday and the quiz on laboratory procedures and safety. The quiz on laboratory procedures will be 25 questions—you can miss one and still pass. Individual Instruction: • Read and take Cornell Notes on the handout packet on pages (in this order) 7, 6, 8, 9, 10 and 11. • Solve problems 1 – 5 on each problem set (on each set) and compare your answers to the key posted. SHOW ALL OF YOUR WORK. • Take the Compass Learning quiz on unit conversions and scientific notation. • Complete the rest of the problems on pages 6 - 11. • Exit slip will be your progress on the worksheets. Assignment for Thursday: • Complete at least 15 of the vocabulary words and work on your Jeopardy style questions for the sample notes provided. Compare your notes to the sample notes and add additional details where needed.
