Friday, May 25, 2012 College Reading/Comprehesion (55 minutes) Next week, you’ll be working a final project which bring History class and English class together. During collaborative, you will be get the rubric and handout for the final project of the year! Are you a creative writer? An artist? A designer? You will exercise your talents (or perhaps discover or awaken some dormant talents! You will be selecting a historical figure and either writing a creative story or developing a graphic novel. A list of other options will be available. Individual Instruction: Wednesday, May 23, 2012 SAT Vocabulary Week 6 Vocabulary Theme: Suffixes That Form Verbs: -ize, -ate, -ify A suffix is a syllable placed at the end of a root word to change or add to its meaning. Some suffixes also change a word’s part of speech. For example, all the vocabulary words in this lesson are verbs, created by adding the suffixes –ize, -ify, and –ate to root words. Don’t freak out; I will define and give eamples of all twenty words at the beginning of class. -advocate -amplify -computerize -generalize -intensify -pollinate -popularize -rejuvenate -standardize Directions: Write an original story using at least ten of the twenty vocabulary words listed above.
