(2005): • “… there are few measures of business activity that achieve anything close to micro/macro data internal consistency” • Haltiwanger (1997): • “… it causes one to imagine that aggregate statistics emerge from some great black cauldron, mixed together with data from an alphabet soup of surveys. • A host of well-known problems arise with this merging of diverse sources of data (…) having different sample frames and consequently different properties”

(…) • Current practices at statistical agencies are far from this ideal (…)” • Conclusie: internationaal erkend probleem met consistentie tussen micro- en macrodata

Micro-macro analyse van productiviteit: probleemschets • TFP-groei = TFP1/TFP0 • = Q(output)/Q(KLEMS) • (Q(y) = volumeindex y) • Van micro naar macro (‘bottom up’): • gewogen TFP-groei òf gewogen volumeontwikkelingen van output en KLEMS? • behandeling entry/exit en missing values?  beide problemen spelen alleen op microniveau

Micro-macro analyse van productiviteit: probleemschets • Additioneel probleem: • NR-cijfers zijn geen optelsom van microcijfers! • Na oplevering aggregaten uit PS: • confrontatie met en inzet van andere bronnen • integratie met andere macrostatistieken (‘inpassen’) • etc. •  verschillen tussen NR- en PS-uitkomsten

Micro-macro analyse van productiviteit: conclusies • Conclusie: • macro TFP-groei berekend o.b.v. panelbedrijven sluit redelijk goed aan op macro-TFP-groei NR • maar: • slechte aansluiting ontwikkeling van kapitaal • groei productie en intermediair verbruik consequent hoger in microdata • geen goede aansluiting als ook entry/exit worden meegenomen

  13. Stelling • Wetenschappelijk onderzoek op microdata moet naast het onderzoek door externen, ook intern bij het CBS plaatsvinden.
