  2. What is it? Ballet is an art form created by the movement of the human body. It is theatrical--performed on a stage to an audience utilizing costumes, scenic design and lighting. It can tell a story or express a thought or emotion. Ballet can be magical, exciting, provoking or disturbing.

  3. Origin Ballet originated from the Italian Renaissance courts in the 15th century then developed into concert dance at France and Russia.

  4. Famous Ballerina Margot Fonteyn is one of the greatest Classical ballet dancers of all. She was born on May 18, 1919 and died on February 21, 1991.  She danced with the Royal Ballet and she was appointed Prima Ballerina Assoluta of the company by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll. She was famous for her portrayal of Aurora in Tchaikovsky's The Sleeping Beauty .
