Georgia High School Graduation Tests • Statelaw requires that curriculum-based assessments be administered in Grade 11 for graduation purposes. • Results are used to identify students who may need additional instruction in content area objectives considered essential to earn a high school diploma in Georgia. • Assessments cover a sample of the knowledge and skills that constitute a comprehensive high school education.

GHSGT Administration • Who should test? When? • First-time test-takers – Spring of 11th grade year; Fall of 11th grade year for GHSWT • Students will have 5 opportunities to test prior to graduation
Cut Scores • For Diploma Purposes (All content areas) = 500 • For AYP- Proficient: -ELA = 511 -Math = 516 Advanced: -ELA = 538 -Math = 525

Remediation Retest Roster Provided for each content area test. Lists all students who did not pass along with scale score and domain/strand performance.
Student Achievement Roster Lists all students by school and provides scale score and performance level. Final page of roster provides school achievement summary.
Information presented at the top is based on 11th grade, regular program students who are first time examinees Information at the bottom includes ALL grade 11 test-takers. Presents summary data for the school, system, RESA, and state. Content Summary
Classification Report ▪ Provided at the school and system level. ▪Includes performance data for ALL students, regular program, special education, and ELL students. ▪Also provides summary results for students attempting 2 or more times.
Georgia High School Writing Test • The current GHSWT will remain in effect during the 2006-2007 school year (includes Fall 2006, Spring 2007, Summer 2007 administrations). • The Fall 2006 main administration date is September 27. The Fall 2006 make-up date is September 28. • The new GHSWT will not become operational until the Fall of 2007.
GHSWT - 2006-2007 • The assessment is a test of persuasive writing. • Four writing domains are scored analytically, with each contributing a specific weight to the total score. • Content/Organization (40%) • Style (20%) • Conventions of Written Language (20%) • Sentence Formation (20%) • Scale scores range from 400-600. • Passing = Scale score of 500 or higher.
GHSWT - 2006-2007 • Who should take the assessment? • Fall (Main) administration • 11th grade students • 11th and 12th grade students who have not passed the test • 12th grade students new to the system/school who have not tested • Students who are not currently enrolled who wish to take the test to earn a diploma
GHSWT Reports and rosters provided will be similar to those provided for GHSGT. Be sure to check for this on each student.
EOCT (End-of-Course Tests) • The purpose of the EOCT is to assess student achievement of the Georgia QCC/GPS in core courses and to provide diagnostic data in support of improved student achievement.

EOCT Courses to be Tested • If a student is earning graduation credit for one of the EOCT courses, he/she must take the EOCT. Example: The student is taking Applied Biology and will receive Biology credit for graduation. The student must participate in the Biology EOCT.
EOCT Students to be Tested • Any student, regardless of grade level, enrolled in an EOCT course • Middle School students enrolled in an EOCT course, whether or not they receive HS credit for the class • Students taking a college course, an online course, or a correspondence class who are receiving credit towards graduation for an EOCT course • Systems/schools are responsible for approving courses that meet the QCC/GPS objectives for the course in which the student is earning credit • Level the field for all students regarding high school issues (e.g., class rank, eligibility, etc.)
EOCT • The EOCT is the final exam for the course • The EOCT will count as 15% of the student’s final course grade (15% EOCT score/85% course grade = final grade) • Online courses, correspondence courses, PSO courses • After the EOCT & course grade are combined to create the final course grade, students must have attained at least a 70 to pass the course. • Student scores are a part of the student transcript. The EOCT score must be “on, in, or with the student report card.”

CRCT • The CRCT is designed to measure how well students acquire the skills and knowledge described in the Georgia Performance Standards (GPS) and the Quality Core Curriculum (QCC).
CRCT • Requires that all students in grades one through eight take the CRCT, in the Spring of each year, in the content areas of: -Reading -English/language arts -Mathematics • Students in grades three through eight are also assessed in: -Science -Social Studies
