Why does everyone want a piece of Israel? • Jerusalem - _______ of Palestine/ now Israel • Most sacred site for 3 major religions: • -Judaism (Abraham told us God gave this land to us) • -__________ (Jesus was born near here and lived his life here) • - _________ (Ismael, son of Abraham, was given the holy Koran here)

Result: Israel wins even more land… • Now Muslim extremist groups are reacting even more extremely… • -9 Israeli Athletes killed by terrorists in Munich ____________ (1972) • -War of Yom Kippur (______________) 3 days Arabs attack Israelis Result: Israel endures with help of _______ to repel attacks.

US: Israel’s ____________ _____________ • US has been the biggest supplier of ____________ & _________ to Israel throughout conflicts. • In the history of the US it has never given as much $$$ to any other country, as it has to Israel (16 Million / ___________) • Obviously the US is Team Israel BUT US still tried to step in as “neutral referee” twice • 1979: Camp David Accords (US President Carter strikes deal between Egypt and Israel so that Egypt accepts Israel as a nation. (Egypt gets control back of________ __________, as long as the waterway remains open for all use) • 1993: ________ Agreement (US President _________ creates deal to give the West Bank and Gaza Strip to new and independent nation of Palestine.

  12. Result of these peace attempts • 1.) CHAOS. • 2.) Israel occupies and builds on land given to Palestine. • 3.) Palestine, who promised to stop with the terrorism, increased its activities. • ___________ : Known terrorist group in Mid-East was elected to represent Palestine in Gaza Strip… • 4.) Fighting and unrest has continued for 20 years. • Is Peace possible???
