In-equitable access and poor coverage • Interventions proposed • Area needs basis micro-planning and vaccinator numbers ( e.g. remote, difficult terrain) • Strengthen and expand existing outreach/MHTs • Innovative and flexible service delivery approaches (PPP in in-secure areas, CHWs for nomads) • Expand existing HR base for immunization: Train midwives and CHS • Address cultural barriers to access ( Training female vaccinators) • EPI Coverage need to be sex-disaggregated

  3. Low utilization of existing services • Demand creation ; need for a Comprehensive EPI communication strategy • Increase communication capacity of EPI department

  4. Weak Management Capacity for Service Provision • EPI micro-planning to be strengthened • Strengthen management capacity of EPI and BPHS managers for improving immunization services

  5. Missed Opportunities • Train health workers in EPI to avoid missed opportunities • Strengthen Postnatal care and administer Birth dose ( BCG & Polio) for all institutional deliveries and those in CHWs catchments area

  6. Introduction of New Vaccines ( medical products) • Consider training needs of existing service providers • Additional warehousing and cold storage capacity required

  7. Inadequate Cold Chain &Logistics Capacity at all levels • Needs assessment to be conducted • Factor in needs for new vaccines • Strengthen Procurement Supply Management • Implement recommendations of Effective Vaccine Management survey • Strengthening cold chain during transportation; temporary storage facility at airport

  8. Low capacity to maintain existing Equipment • Cold Chain Technicians need further training • Engineering and equipment maintenance capability at district level
