Introduction • The Senator of the state dies • The governor needs to find a new senate and Jim Taylor threatens the governor to pick someone that no one likes to be the new senate • The governor does not listen to Jim and after much confusion the governor decides to pick Jefferson Smith to be the new senate • Jim Taylor is not happy with the decision but the governor talks him into going along with Smith and Taylor agrees

  3. Rising Action • Jefferson Smith gets invited to Washington to be the new senate and he accepts • Mr. Smith gets off his train at the station but wonders off through DC to see all the patriotic memorial and sights • Mr. Smith meets Saunders and Diz then decides he wants to make a bill for a boys camp • As he is trying to make his bill he finds out a plan that Taylor has and Taylor tries to bribe him to become part of the plan

Rising Action 2 • Since Smith refuses to join in on Taylor’s illegal plan, Taylor decides to frame Smith and says it was his plan to get revenge • Everyone starts going against Smith, Taylor bribes all the talk shows and newspapers to make smith look like a terrible person • Smith goes to a meeting with the other senates and they try to figure out what to do, but everyone there is against Smith too • Smith decides to hold a Filibuster to try and prove his innocence, but everyone in the state is arguing wither he is innocent or not • Smith Keeps going with the filibuster that lasted almost 24 hours, he tried to prove to them that Taylor was running a political Machine, people still were against him, then eventually Smith passes out

  5. Climax • Smith Keeps going with the filibuster that lasted almost 24 hours, he tried to prove to them that Taylor was running a political Machine, people still were against him, then eventually Smith passes out

  6. Falling Action • Joe Paine, the other senator of the state finally decides to break Taylor’s rules and tells everyone that Smith is innocent and tells them about the political machine Taylor was running

  7. Conclusion • Smith is declared innocent and gets to keep his place in the state senate
