  3. Rhode Island History Massachusetts Bay colonists settled the Island Roger Williams believed the Indians owned the land and that they had to be paid so they paid the Indians The Narraganset Indians deeded land to settlers. It’s main reason for settlement was religious freedom

  4. Rhode Island Now Rhode Island is a state now. Very peaceful. The motto is hope. The state bird is the Rhode Island Red. The state flower is the violet. The state tree is the red maple. Tennis is a tradition.

  5. Rhode Island The state house is in Providence. It is 1,212 SQ miles The coast is 40 miles long. Rhode island is the ocean state. They do yacht racing. Mohegan bluffs on block island.
