  7. State Bird • The Rhode Island Red Hen is the official state bird of the state. It was stated the state bird May 3, 1954. The hen is a domestic bird so therefore has no place in Audubon’s Birds of America. This bird has become a symbol for all Rhode Islanders all over the world.
