  1. The Donut Hole: A comprehensive definition Group 4: Jordan Harris, Liz Tjepkema, Serina Crook, Brenna Swanston

  2. Describing the Donut Hole A donut hole is a small, spherical, fried, soft sweet bread, usually covered in glaze. It is sticky to the touch and smells and tastes sugary and sweet. Donut holes can vary in flavor and size, although they always maintain the aforementioned shape.

  3. Classifying the Donut Hole The donut hole is a food, more specifically a member of the pastry family. It can be eaten for breakfast, dessert, or as a snack. The donut hole is also classified as a donut. A donut is a pastry that possesses all the same characteristics as a donut hole with the exception of shape and size. A donut is typically bigger than a donut hole and is often shaped like a ring. However, it can take on any of a variety of shapes, including bar, twisted, and circular. The concept of a donut hole is that it is the removed center of a ring-shaped donut.

  4. Creating the donut hole: as you can see, the hole is actually the center of a ring-shaped donut. The final product after frying and glazing. It’s a bite-sized ball of yum.

  5. What the Donut Hole is and is not The donut hole is similar to the other members of the pastry family in taste, nutritional content, and texture. However, unlike other pastries, donut holes do not commonly contain a jelly or custard filling. As previously mentioned, the donut and the donut hole share many characteristics. For instance, they have the same ingredients. However, they take on different shapes and sizes. (The donut hole is always spherical whereas the donut varies in shape.)
