  1. Grammar Or…how we say what we say Or…English Language Conventions

  2. How this works • Unlike other classes where you might have to copy an incorrect sentence and then correct it in a different color and then add a rule, Ms. Reed take as bit of a different approach. • For general grammar, she will ask you to use a variety of online resources to practice at your own pace. You will be required to track your work in this Workbook. • For more specific grammar issues, your (and your classmates’) writing will be used for DOL practice (see it pays to proof read carefully).

  3. How it helps and How it gets assessed • Because you can review, go back, slow down, and repeat hard concepts, you are sure to improve. • You will have turn in your workbooks as part of other work checks and have several small practicetests to double check that you are making progress or understand what you are working on. • At the end of the semester you will have a major test covering everything covered in general and specific grammar studies.

  4. Recording the Evidence of Practice • Recording your grammar practice is a threestep process 1) Add the title of the grammar focus to the slide title after the colon 2) Take a picture of the final exercise or score that the practice materials show you. • To take a picture of your screen, press the PRINT SCREEN key (it is in the far upper right corner above the number key pad). • Nothing will appear to happen. • Now, • RIGHT CLICK , PASTE –or- • CTRL+V –or- • HOME tab,CLIPBOARD tile, PASTE • Now resize the image to fit. Do not crop it thought-Ms. Reed wants to be able to see your name on the screen. 3) In your own words, explain the rule, define the concept/terms, or use and example to explain. • This last step is a form of reflection and owning the learning. Think of it as teaching someone else the concept. • You might want to include your score here if it does not show it in the image.
