Fast Facts • Began with the rise of Hitler in 1933 • Started with Nuremburg Laws (1935) • 1st moved to ghettos/ 2nd concentration camp/ 3rd possibly a death camp • Jews were held as workers, which helped benefit the Germans • Good taken from the Jews were sold to help the Germans raise money for the war

Occupied Poland housed majority of concentration camps and death camps • Three major death camps that ran until 1945: • Auschwitz, Majdanek, and the Ustaše run Jasenovac • Multiple forms of “gassing” took place • Carbon monoxide chambers (Cylinders/exhaust fumes) • Zyklon B became the most popular • Guards also shot, starved, tortured, etc. prisoners
