Why a new County Report Form? • Time for a change • Introduce project objectives early • Members set personal goals related to objectives • Encourages critical thinking • Provide flexible tools for • record keeping • reporting • Designed to complement existing county medal selection procedures

  5. Parent/Volunteer Roles • Help members set reasonable goals • Provide solid learning opportunities • Encourage them to record accomplishment as they occur • Provide tools for keeping records • Make record keeping or journaling part of every 4-H meeting • Set aside time to assist with putting record books together

  6. What is a “Project”? • A subject/topic a member learns about in 4-H • Something a member can do or make • Activities that helps members learn new things and develop new skills

  7. Why Keep 4-H Records? Learn to: • Use project objectives • Set goals • Plan project work • Keep records • Organize information • Gather information needed to apply for awards • Meet requirements for some • county/state events/activities

  8. Why use objectives? • Provide standards/guides for project work • Allow members to have similar project opportunities/experiences • Give a place to “start” • Insure that members learn/do a variety of things as they complete project work • Provide direction for judging committees

  9. The “New” County Record Book Provided as a tool – not mandated Designed to simplify reporting • Collects information that is useful • Now • Later • Can be customized to meet existing county record book guidelines • Can be completed on the computer
