  9. Directions • Students will present their opinion to: “Should we continue to pay taxes or not.” using their choice of software. Word? Power Point? Pixie? Kidsperation? ?????? • In a paragraph students must list at least 3 reasons and illustrate them with 1 or more graphics. Work must have a title, opening and concluding sentence. In addition, provide a short paragraph at the end that explains why you picked the software that you used. • Your audience for your writing is a classmate who will review your paragraph.

  10. Directions • Picture sources are in the 3rd grade handout folder You may use any of these applications

  11. Directions • We will trade papers with someone who has a different opinion and discuss.

  12. Questions • Why do you think taxes were “invented?” • How would you spend the tax money? • Should anyone be excused from paying taxes? If so Why?

  13. Taxes- To Pay or Not to Pay Student Response You hear about taxes all the time. My dad says he has to pay too much. I don’t think you should have to pay taxes if you don’t use them. We use teachers but not police or fire fighters. We use the roads but not a lot and we don’t tear them up. It would be more fair for the people who use the services to pay for them with taxes. I used Power Point because it is easy to use and move pictures around. Word makes moving pictures hard.
