  10. Rebuilding Iraq • Rebuilding efforts hindered by violence • Insurgents attacking US, Iraqi forces • Car-bombings, snipers, small battles • Some loyal to Hussein • Others part of Al-Qaeda, other terrorist groups • Killed over 3,000 Americans • More than died in war

  11. Rebuilding Iraq • War becoming unpopular in US • High death toll • Failure to find WMDs • US gradually withdrew forces • More security, fighting turned over to Iraqis • Last US troops left by December 2011
