Initiatives: • Development of QAA standards for practice placements - National • Development of the Clinical Practice Placement Support Unit (CPPSU University of Dundee – Local 3. 2004 The appointment of Practice Education Facilitators - Partnership working (Scottish Executive, University, Trust)

  5. 1. QAA/NES STANDARDS • Known as the Practice Placement Standards. • Identified Responsibilities of: Student Mentor Service Provider/Trust

  6. 2.CPPSU • A support structure developed by Dundee University • To give information, guidance and support to students and mentors. • Information on placement profiles.

  7. 3.PRACTICE EDUCATION FACILITATORS • To promote QAA Standards • Oversee and guide implementation of standards. • Give support to: Mentors Students

  8. Facilitators Continued: • To enhance and develop the mentor role and responsibilities. • To help to develop the learning environment within practice placements to enhance the students learning opportunities.

  9. Facilitators Continued: • Communication – provide links between: Nes/Scottish Executive Trust Managers Mentors Students Link Lecturers University
