  2. Answer • The study of the earth and everything in it. The study of the physical features of the earth and its atmosphere, and of human activity as it affects and is affected by these, including the distribution of populations and resources, land use, and industries.

Use Geographic Tools to Solve Problems • 1) Use longitude, latitude, and scale on maps and globes to solve problems • 2) Collect and analyze data to interpret regions in the Western Hemisphere • 3) Ask multiple types of questions after examining geographic sources • 4) Interpret and communicate geographic data to justify potential solutions to problems • 5) Distinguish different types of maps and use them in analyzing an issue

  4. Human and physical systems vary and interact • 1. Classify and analyze the types of connections between places • 2. Identify physical features and explain their effects on people in the Western Hemisphere • 3. Give examples of how people have adapted to their physical environment • 4. Analyze positive and negative interactions of human and physical systems in the Western Hemisphere
