  1. When you develop your long term memory today, you will be guaranteed of a lifetime full of memories - of course everyone knows how precious they are, right? The problem with short term memory is that it is like storing water on a river - it is there one time only to flow into who knows where the next moment! This is actually what happens when we forget names of those people who had just been introduced to us.   2. There are three kinds of long term memory: episodic, semantic, and procedural. Episodic is the one that works for retrieval of our past experiences, semantic with facts and general information we most of the time learn from school, and procedural for those step-by-step how-to's. • The secret to developing a long term memory is meaningfulness - and really, by the time you are 60, surely you would want to be able to better remember the most meaningful times of your life. This meaningfulness has really little to do over our interest or worthiness of information, but by the degree of association it takes measured to those memories already existing in our long term memory.

  3. Creating new ones mean that we should be able to link it to our previous memories.
