  1. Calories • A unit of ENERGY What calories do: • The number of calories in a food is a measure of how much potential energy that food possesses • We burn calories through metabolic processes

  3. WOW! Calories! • 3,500 EXTRA calories is stored as FAT (1 pound!) • Burning 3,500 calories MORE that you eat converts that 1 pound of stored fat to ENERGY • CALORIESIN & CALORIES OUT to maintain or lose weight

  4. WATER VS. COKE • 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated! • Lack of water is the #1 trigger of daytime hunger! • 8-10 glasses of water a day can ease back and joint pain for 80% of sufferers! • A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory & trouble with basic math!
