  2. Il Tibet è una regione dell'Asia centrale. La storia propriamente conosciuta e documentabile del Tibet inizia nel 617 d.C.; dopo secoli di autonomia arrivò ad espandersi comprendendo parti della Cina. Dal XIII secolo divenne Stato vassallo dell'Impero Mongolo (che conquistò anche la Cina), poi (dal 1368 al 1644) della dinastia cinese Ming; per ultima, la dinastia cinese Qing (1644-1911). Dal 1911 il Tibet divenne uno Stato indipendente. Nello stesso anno ebbe fine l'Impero Cinese, che si trasformò in "Repubblica di Cina": nel 1949 si divise poi in Repubblica Cinese (Taiwan) e Repubblica Popolare Cinese. L'invasione del Tibet da parte della Repubblica Popolare Cinese iniziò nel 1949-1950[1] e la quasi totalità del territorio tibetano è ora sotto la sua sovranità.A causa dell'altitudine media di 4.900 m, è chiamato anche Tetto del Mondo.(tratto da Wikipedia)
