  2. The following is a brief summary of some “DCC Safety Notes” as well as miscellaneous other notes. • Please make sure you ask about anything that is not clear to you.

  3. Fire Alarms & Exiting • All students from a class must exit together and assemble outside the structure at least 75’ away. • All class rooms have emergency exit plan • Always know two ways out. • Takes your valuables • Attendance will be taken once outside to insure everybody has safely exited.

  4. All Exits Are Clearly MarkedArrows Indicate Where Exit Is

  5. Keep classroom aisles clear • Clear of backpacks, books, bags, etc

  6. Closing doors • Why close the door? -contains fire/smoke

  7. FIRE ALARM- NEVER TAKE THE ELEVATOR • Very dangerous during a fire • Acts like a chimney for smoke/heat and toxic gasses • Fire can easily disable them

  8. How should I get a handicap person out of the building? • The “SAFE AREA” • Any stairwell -stairways have the most protection in the buildings • Call Security -Let them know you are there and current conditions • Or assist on exiting if on ground level

  9. Any Emergency on campusEMS, Fire, Police, etc • 4911 on any DCC phone • 431-8070 on any cell phone • DCC “Blue Light Phones” • All go directly to the DCC Security Dispatcher

PARKING / DRIVING /CROSSWALKS • All vehicles must have a DCC parking permit (available at Security Office) • Only park in designated student parking: Lots D & E – enforced by DCC Security • Handicapped parking also enforced by local police (min. fine - $75) • Obey speed limits; enforced on the surrounding public roads by police

  12. Crosswalks- do not cross against the light – N • Safety Issue • Police enforce and issue summons (min. fine $100+)

  13. Cell Phone etiquette • Classroom as per your instructors rules • Fire Science- cell phones not permitted • Hallways- please refrain from phone or face to face conversations outside of classrooms

  14. NO SMOKING • Smoking is only permitted within the eight designated “smoking areas”; • ·South of Taconic on way to the Day Care Center • · In the patio between Hudson and SSB • · In the gazebo near Pine Grove • · To the left of the Falcon Hall main entrance • · On the landing between Dutchess and the main walkway • · On the patio between Washington and Drumlin • · The loading area of CBI • · Near the Receiving area of the Physical Plant • · The northwest corner of DCC South

  15. NO SMOKING • Note that no smoking is permitted at or near any building entrance

  16. DCC College ID cards • All students are required to have a DCC ID card • Must be carried anytime you are on campus • Available at Security Office • Also serve as a debit card • Provides significant discount in cafeteria
