  2. PHI THETA KAPPA • Phi Theta Kappa is the International Honor Society for two-year colleges. • Incorporated in 1918, Phi Theta Kappa is now the largest honor society in American higher education. • It has more than • 2 million members • 1,200 chapters NOT a fraternity/sorority

  3. BETA IOTA RHO • Beta Iota Rho is the local chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Luzerne County Community College. • Our chapter, chartered on December 12, 2000, is a member of the Middle States Region. • Currently, we have 287 members. Happy 10th Anniversary!

  4. MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS • A student must: • be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours at LCCC during Fall or Spring Semesters. • have a GPA of 3.5 or better. • have completed 12 hours or more of transfer level courses. Membership is Invitation Only

  5. MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS • As members of Phi Theta Kappa, students receive: • Eligibility for scholarships • including many excellent transfer scholarships to universities • @ $37 million each year • The right to wear honor regalia at graduation: • the gold and blue cords • the Golden Stole and tassel

  6. MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS • As members of Phi Theta Kappa, students receive: • Letters of Recommendation • Phi Theta Kappa certificate, transcript notation • Phi Theta Kappa diploma seal • A Golden Key pin • Subscription to Society publications • Press releases

  7. MEMBERSHIP FEES • $55 • 1-time only fee • no further monetary obligations • $45 to PTK • $5 to region • $5 to chapter
