2. 1.prefer:更喜欢；宁愿 Eg: We prefer to eat out.我们比较喜欢上馆子吃饭。 Which one do you prefer, an apple or an orange?你想要哪个，苹果还是橘子？ I would prefer he worked hard.我倒希望他能够努力学习。 1)prefer sth. to sth；prefer doing sth. to doing sth.； prefer to do sth. rather than do sth. 喜欢…;更喜欢…; 宁愿…而不愿… Eg: I think I prefer music to art. I much prefer cats to dogs.猫和狗之中我更喜欢猫。 我喜欢游泳，更喜欢爬山。 用法点拨 I prefer climbing to swimming. I prefer to climb rather than swim.

4. 2.persuade:劝服；劝说; • Eg: • They used force to persuade him.他们用武力逼他就范.I had a great trouble to persuade him.我费了很大的劲儿去说服他. • Do you think you can persuade me?你以为你能说服我吗？ 用法归纳： of sth. persuade sb. to do sth. 劝服某人做某事 ==talk sb. into doing sht. How can I persuade you of my honesty?我如何能够让你相信我的诚实？ I persuade him not to smoke.我劝他不要抽烟.

5. 近义词辨析 • persuade/advise/suggest • persuade强调结果，劝说成功，“劝服”的意思；而advise和suggest只表示“劝说”、“建议”，不强调结果；advise可以用作advise doing sth和advise sb. to do sht.;而suggest后直接doing而不能接sb. to do sth.,但可以接suggest to sb. to do sth.的形式。Eg: • I advised him to give up smoking, but he didn’t listen to me. • I persuaded him to give up smoking and he never smokes again. • The teacher suggested to me to be careful.

6. 注意:try to persuade 相当于advise，强调动作，不强调结果。Eg； • I tried my best to persuade him into returning to school, but failed. • Practice: • 尽管医生建议病人戒烟，但是没有能够说服他这样做。 • Though the doctor advised his patient to give up smoking, he wasn’t able to persuade him to do so. • I ______ him to go on, but he refused. advised

10. finally 一般指一系列事物或论点的顺序的最后项内容,或用在动词前,表示“等了好久……才”,没有感情色彩. at last只能指时间位置,不能指时间顺序,在意思上是指经过周折、等待、耽搁到”最后、终于”(出现所期待的结果),常常带有较浓厚的感情色彩. in the end可与at last和finally通用.但若出现了非期待中的结果,用in the end, 还可以用于预卜未来。

12. 与Give连用的常见短语 give away:赠送，泄露。Eg: Don‘t give away this secret.别洩漏这个秘密。 The boss gives away a lot of money to the students in our school every year. give in:屈服，投降 Don’t give in if you fail only once. At last he gave in to his fate. give off:发出(光、热、味道等) The sun gives lots of light and heat.

13. give out:分发，用完，公布，消耗尽。Eg: • The teacher gaveout the examination papers.Our food supply at last give out.我们的食物终于用完了。He has refused to give out any information on the matter.他已拒绝发表有关此事的任何消息。give up:放弃 • You ought to giveup smoking; I gave it up last year.Never give up!
