  1. Sample Graphing

  2. Assign # Sample Graphing 45 pts. • X – Y Coordinates • Shows a change of 2 or more variables • X – Horizontal axis ____________________ Independent variable – variable manipulated or changed by scientist. (Ex. – time)

  3. Sample Graphing • Y – Vertical axis I I • Dependent variable - “Depends” on independent variable The measured variable (ex. - temperature)

  4. Sample Graphing Format • 1) Graphs should cover the whole page • 2) Indent 3-4 lines from sides to bottom • 3) Determine the range of your X and Y axis from table (ex. – x = 0-10, y = 0-80) • 4) Don’t number every square on Y axis. Do every 2, 5, 10, etc.

  5. Rainfall (mL) Time (months)

  6. Each Graph Should Contain: • 1) Title • 2) Labeled X and Y axis • 3) Units for the labeled axis • 4) Line, curve, or bars for coordinates • 5) Labels or legend for each line if multiple line graph

  7. Each Graph Should Contain: • 1) Title • 2) Labeled X and Y axis • 3) Units for the labeled axis • 4) Line, curve, or bars for coordinates • 5) Labels or legend for each line if multiple line graph
