  1. Hydraulic fracturing is an oil extraction technique that has many negative consequences for the environment. These consequences include increase pollution of local groundwater, the release of methane Fracking climate change and other hydrocarbons into the atmosphere at well sites, the creation of small earthquakes at well sites, and oil spills during transportation. This makes the shift away from fossil fuels in the United States an attractive, environmental friendly goal for the future.
