Adjectives. Indiana Standards 4.5.5 & 4.6.3. Adjectives. An Adjective is a word that describes a noun or pronoun. Adjectives answer these 3 questions: What kind? How many? Which one? They can describe color, shape, size, sound, taste, touch, smell, or can be a number. .

  2. Adjectives • An Adjective is a word that describes a noun or pronoun. • Adjectives answer these 3 questions: • What kind? • How many? • Which one? They can describe color, shape, size, sound, taste, touch, smell, or can be a number.

  3. Article Adjectives • Another kind of adjective is call an Article Adjective. • A, An, The are called articles. • A is used when a word begins with a consonant. • Akangaroo hopped quickly around the zoo. • An is used then the word begins with a vowel. • Ananimal that hops is a kangaroo.

  4. Proper Adjectives • Proper adjectives are formed from proper nouns. • Japan, Mexico, and India are proper nouns. • Japanese, Mexican, and Indian are proper adjectives because they describe a person and are a name.

  5. Adjectives: Practice Write the adjective and articles in each sentence. • The family lived on a big ship. • The ship was called the John Ena. • They kept chickens and a noisy rooster. • The John Ena sailed to many parts of the world. • It was an interesting place to grow up.
