  12. Productivity As compared to other scanners, on average the i2900 offers the highest capacity feeder. This is important when it is necessary to scan documents in short periods of time and fewer stops can increase productivity. Example : Feeder reloads per 1,000 pages scanned i2900: 250 sheets Feeder reloads 4Others Avg: 100 sheets Feeder reloads 10 High capacity 250- Sheet Feeder When scanning smaller than 250-sheet batches, not having to wait for the feeder to start from the lowest position increases productivity. The i2900 can be programed to return a position that will allow for shorter startup times or automatically adjust to varying batch sizes. Manual 100 200 Auto Programmable Feeder/Elevator to reduce cycle times • While scanning, the i2900 processes and compresses images before transferring thereby relying less on a user’s PC. This enables two key productivity gains: • Maintaining throughput speeds when scanning in black and white, color or grey scale either at 200 or 300dpi • Compatibility with USB 3.0 PCs. The i2900 can be used with PCs using USB 3.0. Because the i2900 is doing much of the imaging itself, there is no noticeable difference in performance when used with either a USB 2.0 or 3.0 PC. Throughput USB 3.0

  13. Versatility The i2900 integrated A4 flatbed helps to keep exception document scanning efficient and productive. • Easy access • Keeps job flow moving • Accommodates books, magazines Graphical ICON on the User Display indicates where the next scan originates. The self height-adjusting flatbed cover keeps books, magazines and thicker documents lying flat NO Paper in Feeder Scan will be from FLATBED Paper in Feeder Scan will be from Feeder

  14. Imprinter Accessory • An optional Printer Accessory is available. • CAT# 1324391 • 9 print positions • Up to a 40-character alpha-numeric print stream • REAR side of the document AFTER it has been scanned • Post-Scan imprinting is commonly used for: • Tracking or retrieving a physical document • Indicating a document has been processed or not • Audit and compliance control • Associating clients with documents • NOTE: The imprint is NOT on the scanned image. There are guide marks on the input tray that indicate print positions.

  15. An “Exit Plan” for Exception Documents Easy Open/Close • The Straight–Through paper path adds value in many ways • Torn / brittle documents in a sleeve (Sleeve not provided) • Thick documents (up to 1.25mm / .049” – Gap release should be set to OPEN) • Long documents (up to 4 meters) • Envelopes • Folders • Even hard cards!

  16. Intelligent Scanning

  17. More Than Just Pretty Pictures Smart devices are helping businesses in many ways The i2900 has scanning and imaging intelligence built in to help reduce costs and make scanning simple for everyone • Advanced imaging functions • Most scanners provide basic or rudimentary imaging functions. To get more advanced features and functionality, expensive imaging tool kits or additional software must be purchased. • Perfect Page advanced imaging functions are at the heart of Kodak scanners and are provided as an extension of the TWAIN / ISIS and LINUX drivers provided by Kodak. • Smart Touch • Make scanning simple and productive • Program scanning and delivery functions that will be performed at the touch of a button • Document Protection • Assist users in protecting documents from damage due to unknown document or scanner conditions

  18. Advanced Imaging For Business A plus for any business Optimized for data extraction that businesses rely on, Perfect Page imaging makes smart decisions about documents automatically as they are being scanned, to keep both quality and productivity the highest they can be. Custom scanner profiles The i2900 provides the means to customize scanner and imaging profiles at the driver level, so that they can be easily understood and selected by users and integrators when configuring jobs and applications. • Name profile based on job or document type • Add a custom ICON • Share with other i2900s • Makes integrations easier • Make changes quickly Name of driver profile reflects when or what type of job to use it with

  19. Above and beyond . . .

  20. Data Extraction – The Foundation of Business Processes • Optimized specifically for the i2900 • Brightens background & sharpens data • Improves OCR for data extraction • Keeps scanner running at full speed • No additional cost Note: The i2900 DOES NOT support: - Toggle Patch - Special Document- Continuous Document Mode- Auto Photo Cropping and- Segmented Bitonal Images

  21. Ease of Use The i2900 has a helpful Operator Display Panel with abacklit display • The Operator Display Panel has four easy-to-use buttons • Select Scanner settings or Job Profiles • Scan / Pause / Continue • Stop scanning • Displays status messages that help users understand status, not just numbers • For multiple document types and job settings, the operator can scroll through up to 9 job setups and make a selection based on the description or job type • ICON displays whether a scan will be from the FLATBED or the FEEDER in the AUTO mode. The Operator Display Panel can be integrated by ISVs and Developers Paper in Feeder Scan will be from Feeder NO Paper in Feeder Scan will be from FLATBED

  22. Make Scanning Simple! • With the included Smart Touch functionality you can create and configure scanning tasks that can be used at the touch of a buttonWith Smart Touch, you simply: • Put documents in the scanner • Select the document or job type using the Control Panel • Watch as Smart Touch takes the appropriate action based on how the scanning task was conjured • This is useful for managing job definitions and actions based on: • A helpful custom Job Name and message line that can be added to prompt users to take additional actions based on the documents being scanned • Where the file needs to be sent • In what format the file is to be saved • Scanner settings, i.e.: Color, B&W, 200/300/dpi

  24. Obstruction in scanner Delicate / Lightweight Bundled Together Stapled Together Intelligent Document Protection Often a user may not notice obstructions left in the scanner or delicate, folded or even stapled documents mixed in with a batch of documents. Documents could be at risk of being damaged, rendering them no longer usable or able to be rescanned. Intelligent Document Protection takes jam protection another step further. Should the i2900 sense that a document starts to be damaged, the scanner will stop to allow appropriate action to be taken.

  25. Intelligent Document Protection • Intelligent Document Protection (IDP) is an extension of the document protection provided by Multifeed Ultrasonic Sensor technology. • IDP is NOT staple detection, although it will help when stapled documents are scanned and start to become damaged. • IDP technology will sense (hear) when a document starts to be damaged (ie: wrinkled, torn, folded, buckled . . .), and stop the transport. • Maximum protection is realized when BOTH Multifeed Ultrasonic and Document Protection are used together. • Of course, nothing is 100% when it comes to detecting document anomalies. • Since IDP acts when a document starts to be damaged, there will be minor tears or wrinkles to the document, but much less then had the document been permitted to proceed.

  26. Intelligent Document Protection Intelligent Document Protection is NOT “Staple Detection” and should not be the focus of this feature. Conditions where IDP will be most effective • Transport obstructions • Lightweight or delicate documents • Document folded or bundled together • Documents stapled together • Documents longer than 4inches • Attachments that are fixed to a document and are positioned in the input tray CLOSER to the Feed Module Conditions where IDP will be less effective • Any attachment or condition of a document that does NOT cause the document to skew or start to become damaged • Short heavy documents - Sticky notes • Stapled attachments that do not come in contact with the feeder rollers (checks at top or bottom of document) • Attachments that feed in the exact center of the feeder rollers (checks at center top or bottom of document) • Attachments that are fixed to a document and are positioned in the input tray AWAY from the Feed Module

  27. Document Protection - Demo Guide • Discussion Points • Document Protection, as with Ultrasonic Multifeed detection, is OFF when a scanner is initially installed • IDP is NOT “staple detection,” it is “damage” detectionIt does sense the presence of staples, it senses documents starting to be damaged • ATTENTION !! • Document Protection minimizes the amount of damage to a document, and will not protect all documents from damage. • Document Protection is disabled when you first install your scanner. • When you enable Document Protection, ensure that Multifeed with the action “Stop scanning leave document in path” is also enabled.

  28. Document Protection - Demo Guide • Set up • Follow the setup procedure on the next page • To Demonstrate Obstructions • Use some clay or a wad of paper • Bend paper and place in opening by the transport roller closest to the UDDS sensor • Place a wad of clay large enough for paper to hit by the transport roller closest to the UDDS sensor • This simulates objects left in the transport • Documents • Use documents that are folded, bundled or stapled and will separate when the feeder rollers start to feed them Less effective

  29. Enabling Document Protection Select SETTINGS Select DEVICE Set Document Protection to: MAXIMUM Set Multifeed to: MEDIUM Set Action When Detected to:Stop Scanning leave paper in path
