The Geography of Greece • The mainland of Greece is very mountainous. 4/5 of the land contains mountains or hills. • The mountains and the seas divided the people of Greece from one another. • The people became fiercely independent of one another.
Bodies of Water • West of Greece – Ionian Sea • East of Greece – Aegean Sea • South of Greece – Mediterranean Sea Bordering Countries Albania, Macedonia, and Turkey
Climate • The climate in Greece is affected by the geographical features that are in the country. The mountains and the oceans affect the climate. • For the most part, the country has a mild winters and hot, dry summers. • Snow can fall in the mountainous regions and the winter is the wettest time of the year.
Jobs and Occupations • Many of the ancient Greeks made a living from the sea. • Many people were fishers, sailors and traders. • Other Greeks lived in farming communities even though the land was not very good for growing crops. • Some crops that they grew were wheat, barley, olives, and grapes.
Jobs and Occupations • People also raised certain animals. Sheep and goats were the most common raised in the mountains of Greece.

This brochure will explain the geography of Greece and what all you have learned today. • Please include sections about the climate, occupations, places to visit, landscape, and possible things to do in Greece from what you have learned today.
