  1. Photosynthesis Research Task State factors that affect the rate of photosynthesis. Interpret data showing how factors affect the rate of photosynthesis. Explain how conditions in greenhouses can be controlled to optimise the growth of plants. Evaluate the benefits of artificially manipulating the environment in which plants are grown.

  2. Limiting Factors • State factors that affect the rate of photosynthesis • Use the PDF file to produce your own version. • This can be either in word or on powerpoint. • You will print at the end of the lesson. • You must include the limiting factors of: • Light • CO2 • Temperature • And • Blackman’s Law of Limiting Factors` 20 min

  3. Exam Question Task. • Interpret data showing how factors affect the rate of photosynthesis. • Complete the 12 mark exam question. • See Mr Marrill for the question and the answers in order to self assess. • Stick the question paper into your books when you have completed this. 20 min

  4. Limiting Factors • Explain how conditions in greenhouses can be controlled to optimise the growth of plants. • So now you know about the things that can limit the rate of photosynthesis. • You have to apply your knowledge to different situations regarding growing plants. • Remember that ONE of the products of photosynthesis is glucose, this is used in a plant for RESPIRATION, so limiting the rate of photosynthesis effectively limits the rate of respiration. • If you limit the rate of respiration then you will limit the amount of energy the plant can produce as ATP and therefore limit the amount of growing that a plant can do. • Simples Right????

  5. Greenhouses: • Explain how conditions in greenhouses can be controlled to optimise the growth of plants. • Write a paragraph from the point of view of a farmer. • Explain in this paragraph how you are going to control the conditions in the greenhouse in order to maximise the growth of your crop. • Keep it short and sweet and focus on the limiting factors 10 min

  6. Evaluate the benefits of artificially manipulating the environment in which plants are grown. • Complete the 12 mark exam question. • See Mr Marrill for the question and the answers in order to self assess. • Stick the question paper into your books when you have completed this. 20 min
