  5. What God expects of us (cont) 1. That we honor (respect, love and obey) our parents,superiors (pastors & teachers) & government.

  6. 2. We do this in loving thanks for Jesus, since they are his representatives.

  7. Discuss: Marcus was riding with a new friend; when pulled over for speeding, the police found drugs in the car. Marcus had no idea about it, but was arrested along with the driver. But Jesus has his representatives to help Marcus. How?

  8. Blessings in this life promised to those who honor their parents and representatives. 1. We will have a good life. Cat 298) 2. We will have a long life on earth.

  9. Moral Law Honor Fathers (folks, church, gvmnt)! Time Line Christ ended the landlockedpromises. Now we’ve Moral Law & promises of Rom 8:28 Obey = then a long life & good life for Israel in the Promised Land.

  10. Discuss: How does God protect us through the 4th Commandment, and give us a blessed life?

  14. 1. That we recognize that God gives life and only he or his representatives can rightfully take life…

  17. Quality of life here on earth is not a determining factor! When it is, then humans are trying to play God! Why? We preserve life, even a suffering life, until God clearly shows us that it is medically futile. Even then, we slowly and method-ically remove the medical aid. Why?

  18. Discuss: The Creator owns every body! Cat 344) 3. That we do not wrongly hurt the body or life… with… murder, suicide, abortion, mercy killing. When is God’s agent, the government, allowed to kill?

  19. Discuss: What is the difference between a good life and a blessed life? Psalm 1 Blessed is the man whose delight is in the teachings of God!

  20. Again we discuss: why is a good life not the same as a blessed life? 2) Why is self-murder so tragic?

  22. 1 Cor 6:19 4. That we do not misuse our own bodies and others…by… Poor diet or laziness, Drinking & drugs, Smoking & reckless acts, Harboring worry or anger.

Gospel is the foundation of salvation!
