Charts and Graphs Microsoft Excel
Cells • A cell is the location where a column and a row meet in a spreadsheet or database. A cell is identified by its column letter and a row number. Example: A1, B2, C3 • The cell address is the location of a cell in a spreadsheet or database. It is identified by the cell’s column/field letter and row/record number
Column • A column consists of cells that run vertically across a spreadsheet or database and contain one type of information. Columns are identified by letters.
Row • A row consists of cells that run horizontally across a spreadsheet or database and contain a complete record of data. Rows are identified by numbers.
Spreadsheet • A spreadsheet is a table that organizes data in cells. In spreadsheets, formulas can be used to calculate numerical data. Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet program.
Formula • A formula is an equation used to calculate numbers. • When using Microsoft Excel, formulas always begin with an equals sign = Example: = A1 + B3
Trend • A trend is the general direction or tendency based on existing data.
