Adjectives. Adjectives and compound adjectives. Adjectives are describing words. such as large , grey , friendly etc. Now let’s take a noun = elephant. Large elephant Grey elephant Friendly elephant. That means adjectives modify or describe nouns. More examples of adjectives.

  3. Explanation Let us understand these examples. Fat cat ( so how is the cat, The cat is fat). 2. Nice book = ( how is the book)- the book is nice. 3. Green bananas = (how are the bananas)- they’re green. 4. Little girl = 5. Beautiful woman = 6. Old man = Note: fat, nice, green, little, beautiful and old are adjectives and tells more about nouns. fat + cat nice + book. green+ bananas. little + girl beautiful + woman old + man

  4. Practice: Pickup the adjectives and fill in the boxes tall , sweet, red , large , naughty large elephant Red apple Sweet grapes tall man naughty girl

  5. Sentences • Use adjective in a sentences of your own. The first one is done for you. • Word use to connect a subject with adjective: am, is, are, was,were • Remember for animals we use ‘ it.’ A little girl: She is a little girl. A fat cat : __________________________________________. green bananas : ________________________________ An old man : __________________________________________________

  6. Compound adjective • A compound  is a single adjective joining more than one word.  • The words in a compound adjective are usually grouped together • using  hyphens. • For example: A four-foot table • A part-time worker • A cold-blooded man • A Well-behaved • An open- minded person

Examples in sentences Examples used in sentences • A four-foot table • A part-time worker • A cold-blooded • A well-behaved • An open- minded person • This is a four-foot table. • Daniella is a part-time worker.. • Danny’s dog is well-behaved • He is a cold-blooded man. • You have to be open-minded about things.
