  2. Types of Rhyme • Exact/ true rhyme: words end in both the same vowel and consonant sounds • Sun and run

  3. Slant Rhyme • Words that end in similar but not exact sounds • Prove and love

  4. End rhyme • Rhyming words that fall at the ends of two or more lines • This is typical of most poems with a rhyme scheme

  5. Internal Rhyme • Rhyming words placed within a line • Internal rhyme does NOT count toward rhyme scheme. • It only adds to the rhythm and meter of the poem. • The mouse in the house woke the cat.

  6. Stanza Types • Most common in poetry: • Couplet: 2 lines • Tercet: 3 lines • Quatrain: 4 lines
