Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) can be transmitted through oral, anal, and vaginal sex, as well as from mother to child and via non-sexual contact. Common symptoms include rashes, sores, and pain during intercourse or urination. Chlamydia is the most prevalent STI in Saskatchewan, followed by gonorrhea and syphilis. Many STIs have no visible symptoms, but complications can include infertility and chronic pain. Treatments often involve antibiotics; however, some viral infections like herpes and HPV cannot be cured. Awareness and prevention are essential.
