  8. Ms. Smith Mrs. Malone One Pager Assignment September 26-28 2012 One Pager Assignment Pg. 8 – instructions Pg. 36 What are the basic parts that make up an animal cell? What are the basic parts that make up a plant cell? What are the basic functions of each organelle? How do the organelles of a plant cell differ from the organelles of an animal cell?

  9. Ms. Smith Mrs. Malone Cells September 28, 2012 • DO NOW: • Date: September 28, 2012 • Read the Do Now “Plant and Animal Cell Organelles” bluehandout • Q?: Which special organelle’s sole purpose is to consume and digest worn out cells? The cell wall is also an organelle, but it is found only________

  10. CELL CARTOON -Fold your Cell Cartoon paper in half so that the picture is on the front. -On the front, draw in all of the organs a human would need in order to survive. -Tape it into page 22.

  11. Meet the ORGANELLES! With your group, take turns taking out an organelle from the envelope and read it to your partners. Draw the organelle and label it on page 23. Include its function.

  12. What is the nucleus?

  13. What is the cell membrane?

  15. What are the mitochondria? • What is the mitochondrion? • What are mitochondrion?

  16. What are vacuoles?

  17. What is the cell wall?

  18. What is a chloroplast?

  19. Word Association With your group, think of a word that each organelle reminds you of. Try and make a connection with your word to the function of the organelle. Be prepared to share out.

  20. Organelle Function Video: Organelles You must take notes on each organelle you have labeled on page 23.

  21. Cell Cartoon part 2 Go back to your Cell Cartoon on page 22. Draw and label the actual organelles into the blank cell on the inside of your folded cartoon.

  22. Plant Model Stations Expectations: -Voice Level 1 at each station -Record Information at each station on your handout -Label it on your diagram -Gather an organelle at each station for your cell Debrief
