Tiananmen Square • It began when the death of HuYaobang, a party leader. • In April of 1989, Chinese students formed a massive demonstration for democratic reform on Tiananmen Square. • The protesters demanded that the leadership resign, but the government responded with troops and tanks, killing thousands of people on the nights of June 3 and 4. • Politicolnews.com
