  2. Acrostics: Poems with a special edge • In a traditional acrostic, the first letter of each line spells a word or phrase, most often the title or subject of the poem. • You can even write a version of the traditional acrostic, like Poe did. Can you find the name in this poem?

  4. Frances! The poem is a valentine to Frances Sargent Osgood. Poe hid her name within the poem. The first letter of the first line is the first letter of her name. The second letter of the second line is the second letter of her name. The third letter of the third line is the third letter of her name. And so on and so on.
