Summer Reading Trojans, Over the summer let’s continue the lifelong process of developing a love for reading! After you finish reading one of the books from the recommended summer reading list, complete a timeline of the novel and turn it in to your Language Arts teacher by September 3rd, 2013.
Soak up a good book! Mission Statement HML’s Summer Reading mission is to encourage our students to become confident, competent, and joyful readers. Our goal is to expose our student body to quality literature that stimulates imagination, awakens curiosity, expands horizons, enhances verbal fluency, and fosters critical thinking and a lifelong love of reading.
“Dive” into your activityThe following assignment will need to be turned in to your Language Arts Teacher by September 3, 2013 • Create a timeline of the major events and be sure the divisions on the timeline reflect the time period in the plot. Use drawings or magazine cutouts to illustrate the events along the timeline. Be creative and include all important characters and information.
Summer Reading Summary • Choose a book from the required summer reading list according to your incoming grade level for 2013-2014 • Complete required timeline assignment for the chosen book which will be the first 2 grades in your Language Arts class • Assignments must be turned in to your Language arts teacher by Septemeber3, 2013
