  1. Summer Reading Trojans, Over the summer let’s continue the lifelong process of developing a love for reading! After you finish reading one of the books from the recommended summer reading list, please select ONE challenging activity from the following assignments.

  2. Soak up a good book! Mission Statement HML Summer Reading mission is to encourage our students to become confident, competent, and joyful readers. Our goal is to expose our student body to quality literature that stimulates imagination, awakens curiosity, expands horizons, enhances verbal fluency, and fosters critical thinking and a lifelong love of reading.

  3. “Dive” into an activitySelect one activity from the following assignments to be turned in to your Language Arts Teacher by September 4, 2012 *** • Make a timeline of the major events , be sure the divisions reflect the time period in the plot • Re-create the book jacket and add your outlook on the book • Write ten interview questions to ask the author of the book • Create conversations between characters as if they were on Twitter with one another • Create a poster for the book that would entice other students to read the book • Create a Top Ten List of important factors that contributed to the plot of the story • Find 5 websites a character in your book would most frequently visit and include an explanation of why your character would choose these sites • Create a Facebook page of one of the characters of the book

Summer Reading Summary • Choose a book from the required summer reading list according to your incoming grade level for 2012-2013 • Complete required assignment for chosen book which will be a grade in your Language Arts class • Assignments must be turned in to your Language arts teacher by September 4, 2012
