  2. Important ideas to remember.. • Reading is essential to success at FROST! • First impression of YOU • First GRADE at Frost • High Expectations

  3. FIRST CHOICE Write a book review. • Include: - a summary of the book - whether or not you recommend it to others - why you recommend it to others • Make sure your summary and recommendation go beyond the basics. • About onepage in length.

  4. SECOND CHOICE Write a descriptive character sketch of one character from the book. • Describe his/her using this acronym: L (looks), A (acts) S (speaks) T (thinks) O (what others think about him/her). • Be specific, include details, and write one paragraph for each of the characteristics in the L.A.S.T.O. acronym.

  5. THIRD CHOICE Create a book cover that illustrates something connected to the book. • Make sure the illustration is detailed and colorful. • On the reverse side of your illustration, write a summary of the book which is at leasttwo paragraphs in length

  6. FOURTH CHOICE Illustrate your favorite scene from the book. • Make sure that your illustration is detailed and colorful. • Write a one paragraph summary of the scene you illustrated. • Write a second paragraph to explain why it was memorable. • Make sure your summary and explanation go beyond the basics.

  7. FIFTH CHOICE Apply the six reading strategies. • Use the reading log attached. • Complete the entire log. • You will apply: • Each strategy should be detailed and well explained.(two - five sentences per strategy) • Predicting • Visualizing • Questioning • Connecting • Inferring • Summarizing
